Winter Film Awards and SR Socially Relevant Film Festival NY #WFA2015

socially relevantWinter Film Awards is proud to partner with SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York, a festival dedicated to raising awareness towards social issues through the powerful medium of cinema!   SR will select one film from the WFA 2015 lineup to spotlight for its ability to touch humanity with a relevant message or cause.

The 4th Annual WINTER FILM AWARDS Independent Film Festival runs Feb 25-28 2015 with 3 days of screenings, networking events and after-parties. The event offers something for everyone, highlighting the dynamic range of storytelling the independent filmmaking community has to offer. Among the 73 films selected is a diverse mix of documentaries, shorts, features, animation, music videos and horror films from all over the world!

SR Socially Relevant Film Festival (™) New York, is a new non-profit film festival, now in its 2nd edition coming March< 16-22,2015 at 3 venues: The Tribeca Cinemas in Tribeca, The Maysles Cinema in Harlem and The School of Visual Arts SocDoc in Chelsea. Opening and closing night and award ceremonies are hosted by The Fourth / Botequim restaurant near Union Square. The festival showcases socially relevant films with human interest stories as a response to the proliferation of violence and violent forms of storytelling. SR(™) Founding Artistic Director Nora Armani and the SR team believe in promoting positive social change through the powerful medium of cinema. This year’s festival promises an interesting slate of films, Masterclasses, Industry Panels and A Lifetime Achievement Award to be given to a prolific filmmaker. SR Film Festival’s inaugural edition took place in March 2014 at the Quad Cinema over one week, showcasing 55 films from 18 countries and presenting multiple awards to winning filmmakers.
