On a rainy afternoon in a British nursing home, a woman struggles to make a last connection with her seemingly catatonic mother. The Daughter, grown and grappling with who she wants to be, flirts with revealing her true feelings to a parent who cannot respond. As the Daughter struggles to get to the true purpose of her visit, pieces of her words trigger flashes of memories and dream-like images inside the Mother’s mind. As the Daughter speaks, the Mother experiences a life before she had children, and a sense of freedom that had long since died.

About the Director

Born in the U.S. to British parents, Sarah Deakins has a BFA in theater from the University of Victoria and has extensive stage and screen credits. The first short film she penned and starred in, Late, went to Cannes with Telefilm Canada as part of a successful festival run. A writer for hire, Ms. Deakins has several spec scripts that garner her work with page one rewrites and she is currently in development on her own first feature film.
