Institutionalised is a 2.5 dimensional animated film made for DSQUARED2 Fall Winter 14/15 womenswear show. This remarkable collection brings a glamorous but eerie side of a women’s mental hospital which is also based on the film “Girl Interrupted”. Intitutionalised is a short film created by a series of still images. The 2.5D effect is obtained by a variety of imaging systems combined from 2D images; it manipulates human faces and bodies to look life-like through layering, shadows, perspective animations and morphing, which creates a certain fluidity and changes in depth that make us think we are looking at 2D paper cutouts moving in a 3D space.

About the Director

Roy Schweiger was born in Tel Aviv. The smallest details are inseparable part of his vision, while he seeks ways to break his own rules and obtain a diversity of various aspects of surrealism. “Learn the rules but most importantly figure out how to break them“. Some of his best images were made out of an instant idea that had to do with an feeling when he stepped into a new location. He has been working as an in-house backstage photographer for DSQUARED2 since 2007.
