The Final Note is a portrait of a rambling, hole-in-the wall warehouse in the South Bronx cluttered with 400-odd pianos and peopled by the eccentric characters who restore them. This short documentary film touches on the decline of a once-majestic instrument and the high craft of piano restoration.

Mayeta Clark is based in New York City, where she works as narrative journalist and director of photography. Her current documentary work focuses on contemporary social, health and environmental issues. Mayeta studied documentary filmmaking, photography, narrative writing and investigative reporting at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She read Sanskrit and Anthropology at the University of Sydney.

  1. Piano’s have rights too! Yes, indeed piano restoration and the people and craft behind it is important and so is the film. I like that I’ve seen so far. Mayeta, if ever you need music for film. I’m interested so please let us talk.
